LEGACY PBX UPGRADE
Siemens, UNIFY and Alcatel systems upgraded to 3CX — a 3CX Cloud LT solution
Do you run a legacy Siemens, UNIFY (formerly Siemens) or Alcatel phone system? You do not have to replace it at once: we connect a modern 3CX to the existing system, both run together, and staff move across in stages — with no downtime.
Which legacy phone systems do we upgrade?
Most often these are legacy Siemens and UNIFY (formerly Siemens) systems, as well as Alcatel. They still work, but expanding them, maintaining them and finding parts keeps getting harder.
Siemens
Legacy Siemens systems that still run, but whose expansion and maintenance keep getting more expensive.
UNIFY
UNIFY is the same Siemens line after the rename — it is upgraded the same way.
Alcatel
Alcatel systems connect to 3CX on the same principle as Siemens.
Other manufacturers
If the system is from another manufacturer, the approach is chosen according to the interfaces it supports.
Do you have to replace the whole system at once?
No. A modern 3CX is connected to the legacy phone system, and both run in parallel. Staff are moved across in parts, while numbers and extensions stay the same.
Both systems run together
3CX is connected to the existing system rather than put in its place.
Moved in parts
First one department or team, then the rest.
Numbers do not change
External numbers and internal extensions stay the same.
The old system keeps working
Until the migration is finished, the existing system keeps serving its share.
How is downtime avoided?
The switch is made in stages at a time agreed with you, and both systems run together meanwhile. The new route is tested while the old system is still live.
Agreed time
The switching work is done when it disturbs your operations the least.
Tested before the switch
The new call route is tested before the old one is disconnected.
Fallback route
If anything gets in the way, calls are returned to the previous route.
Nothing changes for customers
Numbers stay the same, so there is nothing to announce.
What do you get after moving to 3CX?
A modern system adds what the old one did not have: calls on the computer and phone, call recordings, reports, messaging and a link to your CRM.
Calls anywhere
An app on the computer and phone, not just a desk handset.
Recordings and reports
Call recordings and statistics without a separate system.
Messaging in one place
SMS, WhatsApp and other channels alongside calls.
Link to CRM
The customer card appears on screen, and calls stay in the history.
How do the 3CX Cloud LT add-ons help?
To 3CX we add what the system itself does not have: a call back after a missed call, an SMS to the customer, comments with tags, surveys and integration over the REST API.
Call back and SMS
A missed call does not go unanswered — the system calls back or sends an SMS.
Comments and tags
The context of the conversation stays with the call and is found by search.
Surveys and ratings
Service quality is measured right after the conversation.
Integration over API
Calls, recordings and history travel into your CRM or ERP.
Frequently asked questions
Can 3CX be connected to a legacy Siemens or UNIFY system?
Yes. A modern 3CX is connected to the existing system, and both run in parallel, so there is no need to replace everything at once.
Are Alcatel systems upgraded the same way?
Yes. Alcatel is connected on the same principle as Siemens and UNIFY — first we assess which interfaces the system supports.
Will phone numbers have to change?
No. External numbers and internal extensions stay the same, so there is nothing to announce to customers.
Will operations stop during the switch?
The switch is made in stages at a time agreed with you, and both systems run together meanwhile. The new route is tested before the old one is disconnected, and if anything gets in the way calls are returned to the previous route.
Can the existing desk phones be kept?
It depends on which protocols they support. We assess this while surveying the existing system, before any work begins.
How does the upgrade start?
With a survey of the legacy phone system and its interfaces: we look at what runs today, and only then propose how to move to 3CX in stages.
What is added to 3CX
Once the system is upgraded, 3CX Cloud LT solutions are connected to it.
Let us survey your phone system
Tell us which system runs today — Siemens, UNIFY, Alcatel or another — and how many people use it. We will reply with how to move to 3CX Cloud LT in stages.
