Getting started with 3CX
3CX user guide
Signing in
- 1. Take your credentials from the welcome email with the configuration
- 2. Sign in to your web account, for example https://company.3cx.com/webclient/
- 3. Sign in with your username and password


Make, answer and transfer calls
- Call by clicking a user, or type a name or number in the search box
- Switch the phone icon to place the call on your smartphone, desk phone or in the browser
- Transfer a call by clicking “Transfer” or “Att. transfer”, then enter the extension or the name
- For a blind transfer, press “Transfer” and hang up
- For an attended transfer, once the other party answers, press “Transfer”
Change your status
- Statuses: available, busy, do not disturb, at lunch, away and others
- Set your status and status message from the drop-down next to your account
- Click the pencil to add a status message
- Set a status so it changes automatically
- Green means available, yellow means on a call, red means busy — calls go to voicemail or are routed according to your settings


Talk to your colleagues through the browser
- Press the “Chat” button
- Click “Compose” to find and add people to a one-to-one or group chat
- Select the extension or extensions and click “OK” to start talking

Your office from anywhere — the 3CX apps
Download the iOS, Android or Windows app:
- Open the welcome email with the configuration
- Open the app on your device, tap the menu (top left) and then Scan QR code
- Now scan the QR code from your welcome email — and you are done.



Install the 3CX extension for Chrome or Edge
- Open your browser, click to install the 3CX browser extension and follow the on-screen instructions
- Enable the extension in your browser and that is it.
Transferring calls:
- Press Transfer or Att. Transfer
- Enter the extension or search by name, press Transfer and hang up
- For an attended transfer, once the other party answers, press Transfer

Using it on your desk phone
To place a call:
- Dial the number on the keypad and press the call button (or the tick)
- Pick a contact or user in the browser and press call
You can place the call on your phone by clicking the user or the number in the browser - The web client places the call on your phone if a desk phone is selected in the browser


Transferring calls:
- Transfer: press “Transfer”, call the user, press send/dial and hang up
- Attended transfer: press “Transfer”, call the user or the number, press “Send”, ask whether they can talk, press “Transfer” and hang up
- Attended transfer, option 2: press the “Hold” button and call the user or the number, ask whether they can talk, press “Transfer”, press send/dial and hang up

Voicemail
Recording a voicemail greeting
- From a desk phone
- Call the number given in the configuration email
- Enter the PIN and press “#”
- Choose “9”, then “8”, then “0” to start recording
- Press“#” to finish recording and “0” to save
- From the web client:
- Go to “Settings” > “Greetings”
- Here you can set a greeting for each status
- Set your voicemail greeting easily in the 3CX web client
- Use a phone to listen to voicemail


Listening to voicemail messages
- From a desk phone:
- Call your voicemail number and press “Voicemail/Message”
- Enter your PIN, press “#” and then “*” to listen to the messages left for you
- From the web client: press “Voicemail” and click the play icon to listen to messages on the phone you have selected
- Android and iOS apps: tap Menu, then “Voicemail”, select a message and tap “Play” to listen

Schedule a video or audio conference
Create a web conference here and now
- In the web client press “WebMeeting”
- Allow access to the camera and microphone
- In the right-hand panel click “Invite People” to add participants


Creating video and audio conferences
From the web client or the Windows, Android or iOS app:
- Press “Schedule Conference” (on smartphones it is in the top menu)
- “Enable Announcements” to be notified when participants join
- Add a Subject and Notes
- Set the time you want
- Press “Create Meeting” (web client) or “Done” (Android and iOS) and add participants
- Participants receive an invitation — an email with an external phone number and a PIN
- Internal participants receive an email with the user and PIN, or get a call
